The Weiss-Livnat International MA in Holocaust Studies is excited to announce a new and original course starting in Fall 2018; Entrepreneurship in Holocaust Commemoration and Education.
As the world approaches a time without Holocaust survivors and when cultural, social and technological changes take place at a rapid pace, it has become imperative to consider inventive approaches to commemorate the Holocaust.
To ensure that the Holocaust remains a living and vivid memory, the Weiss-Livnat MA Program has created an incubator where our students will analyze and research ways in which the Holocaust is taught and commemorated today with the goal of developing new approaches to help further engage younger generations with the truth, values, and lessons of the Holocaust.
The Entrepreneurship in Holocaust Commemoration and Education course will offer select students the opportunity to experiment with product development and design methodologies – from concept to formulation.
Students will utilize the methodology of Design Thinking, a popular approach to new product development that begins with understanding unmet customer needs. A human-centered design process, Design Thinking encompasses the complete cycle of product development; concept development, applied creativity, mockups, prototyping, and experimentation. The result will be an original Holocaust education or commemoration project, product or initiative that students will build from the ground up.
We look forward to seeing and sharing our students’ work as it progresses throughout the year!
