Yesterday we were very excited to begin our third academic year. This year we are joined by students from many countries, including the United States, Germany, Israel, South Africa, Poland, the Philippines, the Ukraine, the United Kingdom and Holland among others. We had such a wonderful time watching all of these outstanding individuals come together and form our third cohort. We are very excited about the Weiss-Livnat International MA Program in Holocaust Studies’ progress, and we are so excited to share this year with all of you.
Our opening session began with warm remarks from our department and program head Professor Arieh Kochavi. He spoke to our students about the importance of Holocaust Studies, recent research trends, and the aims of the program. It was the perfect introduction to Dr. David Silberklang’s lecture about the state of Holocaust Research today. Both left our students feeling inspired and ready to face the important challenge of Holocaust Studies in our world today.
After a wonderful outdoor lunch our students were joined by Dr. Ronit Nesher, a social worker who specializes in group and team work. We loved watching Dr. Nesher facilitate this program in which the students got to know one another and express their passions for activism, education and Holocaust history.
We are so thrilled to have these thirty excellent students join us in studying the Holocaust, and we are very excited to be starting a new year. We are confident they will grow to be the leading researchers and educators as they spread the lessons of the Holocaust this year and beyond. We wish them the best of luck, and invite you to follow their journey with us through our blog.
