We were so proud to welcome our good friend Sana Britavsky to our university today. Ms. Britavsky is the deputy CEO of the Genesis Philanthropy Group, which works to develop and enhance a sense of Jewish identity among Russian-speaking Jews worldwide. The Genesis Foundation works to encourage research, teaching and raise public awareness regarding the Holocaust in the Former Soviet Union throughout the world. They have established the Center for Research on the History of Soviet Jews during the Holocaust at Yad Vashem. Through this center, we had the privilege of partnering with this important organization, and our close friends at Yad Vashem, to offer a new course in our program this past semester. You can read more about the course here.
Ms. Britavsky completed her MA here at the University of Haifa, and was received today by university president Mr. Amos Shapira, as well as her former professor, and head of our program, Professor Arieh Kochavi. Both personally thanked Ms. Britavsky for her partnership and continued support of the Weiss-Livnat MA in Holocaust Studies Program.
Ms. Britavsky then met with three students of the program and discussed the importance of the representation of the Former Soviet Union in Holocaust studies today. The students thanked her for bringing the course to the program, and allowing students to have access to material and content that is otherwise harder to come by in the growing field of Holocaust Studies.
We are proud to have Ms. Britavsky and the Genesis Philanthropy Group as friends of the Weiss-Livnat MA in Holocaust Studies Program. We look forward to continuing our partnership as we work to cultivate the scholars and educators who will shape the future of Holocaust studies.
